Abstract

The article delves into the quantitative and qualitative analysis of original projects produced by Russian online cinemas between 2020 and 2024. The study reveals that serial content dominates the market, accounting for 74% of all original projects. Feature films and documentaries make up the remaining 26%. Among the predominant genres within both TV series and feature films, drama, comedy, and documentary emerged as the most popular, contributing to 23.5%, 22.9%, and 12%, respectively. The author concludes that original content serves as a strategic tool for online platforms to promote themselves and attract new subscribers, making it an essential component of their overall structure of streaming libraries. This content empowers online cinemas to establish themselves as a unique segment in the Russian media landscape.
