Abstract
Modern information technology and globalization change social agenda, news agenda becomes more and more international. Under the pressure of new media opportunities national news media deal with a great amount of foreign and international news. Lack of time and the remoteness of foreign events raise the question of appropriate news sources. Most of professional ethic codes recognize news source as the key element of impartiality and news quality. National interest newspapers are faced with the need to cover news they are impossible to witness. New media gives new types of news sources as well. This article provides an attempt to structure traditional and modern news sources used by national newspaper for international agenda setting. Based on professional and scientific approaches some peculiarities of international news sources are defined and interpreted. They are predominantly official, second hand, Internet-based and in large measure anonymous. Another important observation is that Internet news sources are becoming more common in professional practice and form a significant part of international news agenda in national newspaper of general interest.
