Abstract
The article is to study the prospects for introducing modern organizational technologies into the editorial and publishing business.
Despite the huge changes in the basic technologies of modern society that have occurred in the recent century, the editorial and publishing business remains highly labor- and time-consuming. The emergence of digital technologies, printing devices and software products had little effect on the work of the editor, executive editor, proofreader, layout designer, etc. Despite all the technical novelties, the work of people involved in creating a magazine or newspaper requires high skills and readiness for a non-standard working day. Meanwhile, the modern technological structure in the editorial and publishing business should lead to simplification of each production stage so that most of the functions could be performed qualitatively by less specialized employees in a shorter period of time.
The article considers the possibility of using Lean-technology in the editorial and publishing business. It is concluded that this technology is applicable in this area, it can dramatically increase the productivity of work at each stage and has the prospect of scaling.
Keywords: editorial office, publishing house, Lean production, Lean technologies, 5S, mass media.
