Abstract
Modern socio-political discourse is characterized by the use of agonal speech strategies and tactics. The political controversy is beyond the classical laws of argumentation: its goal is the assertion by any means of its position and the achievement of victory at any cost. Such agonal strategies as self-affirmation, constructing of the image of enemy, discrediting of opponent, realized with the use manipulative methods peculiar to eristica, have become an integral part of modern social and political discourse.
Keywords: political discourse, polemic, discussion, speech strategies, verbal aggression, socio-political talk show.
