Abstract

The concept of remediation appeared in the digital era to study "new media". The purpose of this study is to theoretically substantiate its application in a retrospective perspective, as a methodological basis for studying the formation of domestic media during the period when radio and cinema were new means of communication. The object of the study is radio and film journalism in general, the subject is the features of the representation of radio on the documentary screen. The article presents the results of both a theoretical understanding of the concept of remediation based on the systematization of data from scientific sources, and a quantitative analysis of archival materials of domestic newsreels, film essays and films from the period 1925-1939, which showed the representation of radio during this period as a recurring theme of the screen.
